Default New Here and scared

Hello I am a 43 year old woman that is looking for some guidance. This is kind of a long story so please be patient with me. In July of 2010 my husband found me lying on the bathroom floor and called an ambulance. Everything came back normal. Blood work ct scan. Then July of 2011 I wa driving home and woke up in an ambulance. They had thought I had a seizure. Again I had a ct scan and blood test that all came back normal. This time I had an eeg that came back normal. The thin of it is.....I had a younger sister that started having seizures when she was a teenager. They were clonic tonic seizures. She was diagnosed with epilepsy and given Dilantin. As long as she took her Dilantin she was fine. However she hated relying on the pills and decided she was going to stop taking them. Well in 2003 her husband went home to find her dead. I have a neuro appointment next month but the waiting is killing me. All these thoughts run through my head do maybe have a brain tumor the ct scans didnt pick up or is it possible I have what my sister had. I spend so much time searching the net and that seems to only make things worse any help would be apprciated.

Hi there.

Is there any way you can move up your neuro appt.? Not that you need to do this but YOU need to do it if it's possible to get your peace of mind back. All this waiting and worrying (and I am so sorry about your sister) must be causing such stress on your mind.

I'm sure others more knowledgeable than me will come along and give you more input. Just know that you are not alone. You are in my prayers.

Melody

I have honestly tried. I even tried another neuro but they couldnt get me in until June . My family Dr thinks it might all be my work schedule and the stress I have been umder. My 86 year old grandmother moved here last June and my mother cant deal with reposibility very well so everything has been dropped off at my door step. Plus I work 12 hour shifts. My Dr has me off work til I see the neuro which doesnt help either......lol I appreciate your response and thank you for keeping me in your prayers

Wink Nice to meet you!!

Hello and welcome to NeuroTalk. Happy to see you have come to be with us. Here are a great number of dear friends to listen when you are in need of ears. You will find out we are supportive and relaxing place.

Taking vitamin B12 once a day helps reduces the chance of having one. Cut back on the carbs and starch foods because they turn into sugar which in turn can trigger seizures, cut back on caffeine, avoid bright light flashing towards you like in a theater (just cover your eyes as it happens).

Check into the following forum:

Again welcome, looking forward to seeing you around. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Darlene
