hey i'm jesse. i'm a 32 year old canadian teacher, and former junior hockey player in british columbia.
i've had 4 documented concussions in hockey and recently received my 5th at work. i've currently finished day two of a ten day brain rehabilitation program and i'm blogging about it. apparently i'm unable to put a link because i have a zero post count but you can find the blog through twitter. please share to anyone you feel may benefit from it, i'm trying to share my experience as a learning experience for others. ** |

Hey Jesse,
Check out the Sports Illustrated article (Sept 2010 I Think) on Sidney Crosby and treatment he received for his concussion at Life University in Marietta GA. I haven't been on long enough to add the link. Good Luck |

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition. Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. |
