Hi
I have recently been diagnosed with post concussion syndrome. I had an accident back in Feb. and heve been treated for headaces all this time. at first I thought some of my other symptoms were pain med and buldging neck disc related. until I went for a second opinion 2 weeks ago. I finnaly don't feel crazy!! The headaces are the worst. Short term memory loss and difficulty finding my words. my body is healing. but all I can say is my brain is still very angry!!! I am hoping to find some help with all of my frustration here. Thanks |

Hi and welcome. Lot's of support available here, check the forum on TBI/PCS. Your injury is still pretty recent relatively speaking. Have you been evaluated specifically for the short term memory and word finding? It sounds like once your headaches are under control, speech and potentially occupational therapy may be helpful. Best to you as you recover.

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition. Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. |
