Hi, as a guest I have found this site very supportive as I have been unable to function properly and life came to a halt with post concussion syndrome on 8th March this year following an accident at work on 20th Feb where I walked straight into the sharp corner of a metal railing and hit my head avove the right eye at moderate speed. I had a clear CT scan in March and am due an MRI in 4 weeks. My speech, memory, emotional range, sleep and stamina have all been affected and the scepticism from colleagues and my employers over why I have been unable to work since has been traumatic. I have been advised by my neuro that I am highly likely to be in this for the long term. This forum has helped me understand my condition and kept me going x

Welcome to the forums. I'm glad if we can help "keep you going"!
While all brain injuries are different, I can tell you that recovery can happen. My neurosurgeon told me later that the night of my accident he didn’t think I was going to survive. 18 months later I’m grateful to be here, able to respond to your post. Your injury is still fairly recent. Hopefully your outcome will be a positive one also. Best regards as you recover. ![]()

What Happened: On November 29, 2010, I was walking across the street and was hit by a light rail commuter train. Result was a severe traumatic brain injury and multiple fractures (skull, pelvis, ribs). Total hospital stay was two months, one in ICU followed by an additional month in neuro-rehab. Upon hospital discharge, neurological testing revealed deficits in short term memory, executive functioning, and spatial recognition. Today: Neuropsychological examination five months post-accident indicated a return to normal cognitive functioning, and I returned to work approximately 6 months after the accident. I am grateful to be alive and am looking forward to enjoying the rest of my life. |
