I am just checking in... undiagnosed as of right now. I have been treated in the past for seizure briefly... went off meds and no repeat. However, now I struggle with disabling migraines. No medications relieve, no cause have been found however, I have not had any real diagnostics. I am going for a neuro-psych and eeg this upcoming week. I do not have a great deal of faith that anything will be revealed. I am on day 42 of headache. I have memory loss -and loss of vision -ability to drive -I've not suffered a head injury.. but do have PTSD. 2 years ago my little girl suffered a left foot amputation via lawnmower...she's fine.. we're all fine... I've had lyme disease and undergone intensive treatment for that which seems to be okay now. I was disabled after my daughters accident for PTSD... the headaches and vision problems keep me house and bedbound most of the time creating anxiety and hopelessness. A dear friend with the same symptoms just told me he was diagnosed with a brain tumor and is having surgery in three days so that prompted me to reach out to my neurologist again to pursue the testing she recommended last year. I don't have a great deal of faith in the medical community and don't expect any findings. Aren't I a barrel of fun?

I want to welcome you to Neruo talk. This community of people has many good souls than can help you through these issues. Lots of compassion here. You will make some friends along the way too. I have been here two years now, never left. I can't seem to stay out of the OR, so I come back for help alot.
Sorry to hear about your little girl. It is traumatic when a child, your child gets injured. It is good to hear that she is doing OK. I know how despondent you can get when your own health isn't right. Do go forward and get all the tests you need, to rule out anything really serious with a neruologist. If these come back negative, it may help with some of the anxiety issues. My neighbor has had migranes for years, and I do know how they can affect someones life. The neurologist can also talk to you about that condition too. If you don't like one doctor, seek another, until someone addresses all your medical issues. I am not sure if there are long term conditions involved with Lymes disease, I would have to do some research on that. You might want to include that in your dicussion. Don't give up, and try to find the proper help. Also a doctor that is a Board Certified Physiatrist may be able to help. This kind of doctor looks at the whole patient, from a cellualar view point. I just discovered this kind of physician recently, and she will work on getting me into a healthier state. I was looking for a pain specialist, and wound up with a great deal more, and more help than I thought I would get. This training they receive makes this type of physician extremely compassionate about the "whole" state of ones body and mind. It may be worth your time to look into this field of medicine. My doctor is also a MD and FAAPMR as well. I do have a neurologist involved with my own care too. Keep working on solutions to good health, NT will be here for you, no matter what direction you go in. Write with any questions that you have, and someone will try to respond to you. Again, welcome to Neruo Talk. ginnie |

Please call me Kim...
Thanks for responding. I wasn't expecting anyone to respond... yay! I haven't had much luck on reaching out on boards... so I'm encouraged. ![]() I do have a psychiatrist... I've been with a psychologist for over 10 years since my dad passed... so I've been doing on and off bio-feedback and counseling for a long time with one person who has helped me through depression/anxiety PTSD and...she actually has personal experienc with LYME in her family and was the one who pushed me to get into treatment.. I was undiagnosed for 7 years and she KNEW that was my problem... bless her heart... she pushed and pushed for me to find a new gp...and I did...and BAM... the blood work had been positive all along and just not picked up on.. unbelievable right? So...she has been a Godsend...and... she connected me with a psych for meds... after my daughters accident I went on Aplenzin...which is a top shelf Wellbutrin basically along with Pristiq... sort of like synthetic Effexor without all the yucky side effects...but... because of the co=pays...after a year, along with the out of pocket lyme treatment... I had to go off of them... so now I am only on Klonopin for panic/PTSD... and, I think it controls any tendency towards seizure which may be lurking. ![]() ![]() Quote:
