I was diagnosed with Pseudotumor Cerebri about 6 years ago. My opening pressures along with vision loss, papilledema and excruciating headaches where what led them to the diagnoses. My opening pressures for all 16 of my LP’s have been between 28-36. At the beginning of May my doctor was concerned that the staph and Ventriculitis infections my VP shunt caused me where active again so in the proses of getting a white blood cell count via LP the Anesthesiologist read my opening pressure at 5!?!?!?!?! I would be interested to know if anyone has heard of Pseudotumor reversing its self? Thank you any and all replies will definitely be helpful!

I am new to this forum but saw your question and wanted to answer. This is based on my own knowledge and experience of PTC. I had a vicious bout of it almost 28 years ago. It was treated with too many spinal taps to count, diamox, high dose steroids, and other medications. It subsided and I went on about my life. Several years later, another episode of PTC came about but it was not as violent or as bad as the previous instance. One spinal tap, some meds and again, I was on my merry little way. I have not had another instance of PTC again. I get my eyes checked regularly and do vision field tests once a year.

With all of that being said, there is chronic PTC, which needs more aggressive treatment and can be debilitating. So, in answer to your question, I would have to say yes, as that is what happened with me. There will be intermittent times when I hear the wooosh wooosh in my ear and I can honestly say it strikes panic in my mind. Since I have a multitude of other diagnoses, (auto-immune diseases, Aneurysm (repaired), RSD/CRPS, etc), I have learned to listen to my body and I make sure my nutritional, supplemental, and all of my medications are carefully monitored.

At the time of my PTC, I learned that it can present in young women, average size clothing 16-18, diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome), a previous recent head injury (within 6 months), and/or can be a manifestation of having had Lyme Disease as a child. I do not know about the Lyme, but I was an exact representation of the others. Exactly 6 months prior, I had a major head injury in a car accident. That accident caused me to gain almost 50 pounds in 6 months from all the steroid and inability to get out of bed.

I do pray that your PTC has indeed subsided and it will be nothing more than a bad memory.
