Default LS Spine MRI Report

Following is my MRI Report:
MR imaging of the lumbosacral spine was performend and high- resolution T1, T2 STIR weighted serial sections obtained in the sagittal and axial planes using a phased -Array surface coil on a 1.5 Tesla scanner.
The study reveals partial loss of normal loardotic curvature of the lumbar spine.
The vertibral bodies are normal in size, shape, allignment and signal intensity. No osseous destructon is seen.
Broad based disc protusion with central propensity and annual tear is seen at L5-S1 level causing effacement of ventral thecal sac with bilateral neural foraminal narrowing and causing severe compression of cauda equina nerve root and mild compression of bilateral decending nerve roots. There is evidence of sequestered disc fragment of size approx. 15 x 11 mm opposite L4 vertebral body causing sever compression of cauda equina nerve roots.
Rest of the intervertebral discs are normal in height and signal intensity.
The bony central lumbar cannal is adequate in diameter with no evidence of primary stenosis. The lowar end of the spinal cord and conus medullaris are normal.
OPINION: MRI findings reveals:-
Broad based disc protrusion with central propensity and annular tear at L5-S1 level causing effacement of ventral thecal sac with bilateral neural forminal narrowing and causing sever compression of cauda equina nerve root and mild compression of bilateral descending nerve roots.
Sequestered disc fragment opposite L4 vertebral body causing sever compression of cauda eqina nerve roots.
Please corelate clinically.

Default Hello debuseth

So sorry to hear of your back trouble. Welcome to Neuro Talk. You will find alot of very compassionate people here. I am sure others will be here to help figure out your MRI. I did look up " sever compression of Cauda equina Nerve root" Has your neurologist made any kind of recommendation? I think that you should also get another opinion no matter what. Any time there is nerve root compression, that is cause to be concerned. I hope that a resolution can be found, to where your symptoms are aleiviated. It said in the article it was important to address this issues as soon as you can, so that nerve damage does not continue. Look up the above sentance on google for a more thorough review of the condition. I do wish you all the best. NT will be here for you. I came to the site with cervical issues that just terrified me. I found the support and friendships I needed to get through it. Keep in touch. ginnie
