Default Neck knots and chronic headaches

Hello everyone! I have suffered for years with chronic headaches that have been "diagnosed" as migraines. They seem to occur most often when there is a change in the weather or barometer. 80% of the time they occur during the night, and are accompanied by large, tender knots in my neck. Pressure on these knots seems to help although they usually just reform somewhere else. Currently my Dr has me on Maxalt which works sometimes, and occasionally vicodin to help me to sleep through them. I apply heat to the knots and sometimes that helps too. Anyone have success with other treatments? It is hard to make the Drs understand what the pain is like, and harder still to predict when I will get it.
Thank you for this forum, glad to know I am not alone

Sorry you're going through this--I used to have migraines, and if I had a worst enemy, I wouldn't wish them on him!

Welcome to Neuro Talk!! Looks like you have been given direction by a very wonderful person (Blessings2You)!!!

So sorry about the pain you are suffering from. I agree with you on the doctor issue...Sometimes I would like them to just experience it for just a few minutes.....that would be to mean!! You take care!!

Do you mean knotted, hard muscles in your neck or some other type of knot? If its muscular physical therapy can help.
