Default neurofeedback

I am seeking help for a relative who has experienced severe negative results from neurofeedback. I would like to hear for anyone who has also had negative results and if you have been able to ease the problems. Thanks.

Default Hello!

Welcome to NT!

I'm sorry about your relative who is having these bad experiences. You've come to a wonderful place of support and understanding.
I wish I could be of more help to your inquiry. Perhaps if you be a bit more specific, others might be able to understand better as to what your relative is going through. In what ways is the neurofeedback affecting this person? Is there an existing condition which brought him/her to get neurofeedback?
We have many great forums here specific to alot of different conditions and I'm sure you could get some caring feedback.

It's great to have you here and I hope you can get some answers real soon.

Caring,
Rae

My relative was told that neurofeedback would help with weight loss, assured there would be no negative effects. The negative effects were tremendous.... severe headaches, difficulty concentrating, depression and loss of motivation, etc. We have sought help with many doctors, practitioners, of many areas, and no one has been able to help alleviate her condition. We were told that the reactions that occurred would be temporary, part of the process. Not so. Wondering if others have had this and what they have done. Thank you for your reply.

I'm so sorry that the neurofeedback has caused these issues!! This is rather alarming. As if the headaches weren't bad enough, then to be suffering with depression also! I've battled depression for the greater part of my life, so I can sure empathize.
There's gotta be a way to rise above this with the right kind of support/therapy. But like you say, you have sought help from countless resources to no availe.

Maybe if you post this over on the depression forum, others would see it better. Here's the link to take you there:

This person is fortunate to have you here seeking help and information.
Also, have you tried googling "negative results from neurofeedback"?
Not that I trust everything there is out there on the web. I'm hoping you'll be able to find a way to pinpoint more info about this.

Have you tried getting in contact with a good psychologist or psychiatrist? I am seeing a psychiatrist for my depression/anxiety and it seems to be helping quite a bit.

Hoping that answers will come your way SOON.

Rae
