Confused Sfn2005

HI, I am new but need to be in touch with others who have Small Nerve Neurophy, I have been diagnosed with it and the doctor said that since I am already on Neurotin, the only other choice is Lyrica, I am on medicare, and a supplement drug program, and Lyrica is out of the choice, too expensive, I can't help thinking that there has got to be a better choice out there, I have been suffering with this since 2005 but just got a nerve conductor test to determine what kind of neurophy I have. And that was it !!!! The doctor said I could take pain meds but nothing else was available to me, what a bummer !!!!!!!! I am totally ****** off with doctors, they wash their hands of you so easily.

Default Hi, Sfn2005!

It's really nice to meet you! My name is Richie, and I suffer from neuropathy as well, of more than one type. Nearly all of mine is on the left side of my body, and it's cause hasn't been definitively diagnosed, but I began experiencing it ten years ago. I went through the Neurontin and the Lyrica, without much help. I've also tried 6-8 other nerve drugs, along with various ADs and anxiety meds. I've been on painkillers for roughly eight years. I refused the PKs at first, but after some time had passed I had to start taking them in order to prevent further complications. It's a real catch-22.

Can you describe anything more about your condition? Like what the actual symptoms are, where you feel them most on you body, what outside factors contribute to them (temp, humidity, exercise, etc.), how often the symptoms are present...stuff like that? I've done a tremendous amount of study on these things, seen over 30 docs and specialists, and been through all kinds of various testing. Very soon I hope to be admitted to the National Institute of Health as a guinea pig of sorts. If there is any help or advice I can give, I will try. In the meantime, I'll be wishing you the best, and hoping that your health improves. Good luck!
