Default thorasic fracture

How does a person decide if the doctor is giving you the best treatment for a closed thorasic fracture? The specialist Ive gone to has told me its been too long since the injury, which happened in February, to put me in a back brace, and said he didn't want to do surgery even though besides the fracture I also have an area where the disc are wearing away and according to him they will slip off one another, there are also 3 areas between the T9 and T11(the T11 is where the closed thorasic fracture is) that need to have "cement" in between them and severe osteoarthritis in the L4-5 region. Because of the pain its extremely painful to stand for longer than a few minutes in one place or to sit long than 20 minutes at a time. He did recommend therapy x2 for 4 weeks. I have had xrays, MRI and full bone scan so I know he is well informed of the condition. What I need to know is that the normal course of action?, just therapy?

Hi- cheriamor,
Welcome To NT

If you have only gotten one opinion so far, I would suggest taking your tests & films to another specialist for a second opinion- or more.
It can't hurt to double check and get more thoughts on all spine troubles.
You need to feel comfortable with what the drs are saying and suggesting.
