Default My first post

I am the mom of a 25 year old daughter who has been in pain for 5 years. Her symptoms aren't as severe as many I see posting. She was doing pretty well until she hurt her left foot in July playing on a slip n slide. The right foot was the initial foot that started hurting when she woke up one morning 5 years ago. At this time , she is using a cane and wears a boot on her right foot so she can go to work. I had set up an appointment with Dr. Rhondes for Oct. 1st but from reading quite a few negative reviews am thinking about canceling. One girl's pain level went fron 3 to 10. I also read a post about someone actually having nerve entrapment rather than RSD and am wondering if my daughter could have that. I wish I knew an excellent doctor here in Arizona who could help. The one thing that helps her is prolotherapy. When it first happened, her foot was hurting and she just kept going to work thinking it would get better but it didn't and the more she walked on it the worse it became until it turned purple and swollen. I could write forever. It never progressed as badly as others so I'm wondering if it is RSD. She has never been completely out of pain though. Would never entrapment cause a female to have low hormone levels? That is another side effect. I would appreciate any help. Thank you so much for reading.

Default Dear Kristen's Mom

Welcome to Neuro Talk. Hopefully you will have alot of responce to the situation your daughter is in with some kind of RSD or PN. Post and request doctors in your area, that specialize in RSD. Not just any doctor will do. They have to have real experience with these kinds of disorders to be able to be treat your daughter. It took me three doctors before I found one to really take a look and examine me and the levels of pain. I also didn't have to submit to EMG testing, as this doctor said it only comfirms what he already knows, sparing me the test. I did get a lotion that helps, and was able to reduce medication. I am so sorry you have to watch your daughter suffer. It is not easy when family member goes through that. I do wish you all the best, and hope you can find the very best in treatment and physicians. ginnie

Hello, and welcome to NeuroTalk! If memory serves me correctly, there is a Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. I don't know where you live in Arizona or how far you are willing to drive. Has your daughter made plans to see a new doctor?

I wish her all the best.
