Hi everyone, my name is april and Im new to this post. Im looking foward to geting to know you. I am a 36 yr.old single mom of 3 teenage boys (they are wonderful) I was dx 6 months ago in Nov. 2006 with ms. one day I went to my doc. for a check up and mentioned to him that I dont seem to have the energy I use to, and my hands and feet get numb and tinggly some times. I honestly thought he was going to tell me I needed to eat better and slow down,take better care of my self. he said he wanted to do some blood work and a mri w/wo contrast , 5 days later he called me at work and said they found something on my brain and he wanted to ref. me to a neuro. 3 weeks from the day I went in for a check up I was sitting in the neuro. office and was told I have multiple sclerosis, I feel like I have been in a world wind every since.I am really looking forward to talking to others and not feeling so differnt. sorry for the long post just a little background.

It is so sad to hear about you having MS. I don't know much about it but, there a nuber of people in here who are willing to help you. You will find a lot on ones hekping in comforting and listening to your needs.

Hope to see you around more. By the way good luck with your 3 teenage boys. I would imagine you have a lot of comfort with them.

Thanks for welcoming me through my introduction message April. I only have one teenager at home still--the other two have grown and left the nest. I've been a single mom before, though, and admire you for being able to raise three boys and deal with MS.

It sounds like we went to our doctor for similar symptoms, only you got an answer very quickly. I'm still waiting. They thought I had MS too, but no lesions so no MS dx. It's good news in a way, since as long as they don't know what it is, perhaps it can be cured.

How are your boys handling the dx? My daughter avoids me when my symptoms are really bad but is very helpful a lot of the time too. We joke about my penguin walk, and one of her friends said penguins are cool, and joined me in my waddling. Gotta love kids! I know it has to be tough on my daughter. The vision problems have caused me to stop driving, so I can't get her around to places like I used to. Plus I've had to quit work, so the budget is a little tighter. Fortunately, I'm married, so my hubby still has a job and can take her places on weekends. We live in the country so nothing is within walking distance, and there are no buses.

Hope you find comfort and advice here on the list as you deal with this new dx.
