Hi. I'm here because I have intractable migraines that started in the middle 90'
I have developed a tolerance to my medications and also have a secondary pain problem.

I'm not that great with computers, so I'm trying to find my way around. This seemed like a useful site since many of you also struggle with pain issues. It kind of reminds me of soldiers coming back from war. Although there may be supportive friends and family, no one can really understand unless they have been there.

Hopefully, I will eventually be able to help some of you.

Sam

Default Hi Sam

Welcome to Neuro Talk. Glad you found this forum. Yes, alot of us do have pain issues. It seems there is alot of compassion here as well. My neighbor suffers from migrains and is on a fentanyl patch. she is not being helped that much by any medications. She travels to Tampa this coming month in search of answers. she has had this as long as you have. I know from being around her, what you are experiencing. I wish the doctors could get a handle on what causes this. Ginnie

Ginnie, Thanks for the welcome.
I hope your neighbor finds out the cause of her migraines. Not knowing is frustrating. I've had two CT scans, an MRI, dye studies, etc. etc. etc. No one can find the real underlying cause. There are so many triggers that its impossible to stop all of them.

Welcome Sam!

I'm sorry to hear about your condition, as someone who has lived with migraines most of her life, I can relate the sense of despair when medication fails to do the trick anymore. How long ago has it been that you developed tolerance to your meds? and what do you do to get along with the pain?

Hope today is a good day, welcome once again

Default Hi Sam

I wish migrane had a solution. I have watched Lori suffer for years, and she has to maintain a job as well. She goes to Tampa bay hospital as a last resort this coming month. I wish you well Sam, and an end to those headaches. Take care and keep in touch. ginnie

Default fellow migraine sufferer

Hello. I don't know if you have already had these suggestions from doctors or others, but after some experimenting with various foods, I found that my 2-week long migraines were being caused by consuming too much sugar for too many days in a row. I also suffer chemical and food sensitivities, so I tend to have many symptoms from my body's sensitivity. From what I've read, food sensitivities are a major cause of migraines, as well as many other ailments. I would recommend trying to eliminate certain foods, keeping in mind it could take a few days (sometimes longer) for the substance to be eliminated from your system and for you to see results. There are certain foods that are more commonly connected with migraines. I don't recall them all now, but sugar is one. Also wines, chocolates, cheeses, I think gluten may be as well (in wheat, barley, rye products, etc).
Good luck.
Seren
