Unhappy Two surgeries for TOS have more pain now.

I have had two surgeries due to tos. It's been 7 months and I am now in more pain than I was before. My doctor says we are stuck! Was told yesterday there is nothing more he can do except help me control the pain with medication and therapy. I'm 33 years old with 4 kids and now I'm trying to figure out how to claim disability. Any advice/help as I am really having a hard time with all of this.

There is a TOS forum on this site with a lot of helpful information. I have had two surgeries on just my left side and still deal with some issues. I take gabapentin and cymbalta which have really helped with the pain. I am 16 months post op and have seen some improvements over that time. I am grateful for every improvement that I have seen and have taken necessary steps in changing my lifestyle. I am on disability, but mine is through a pension system. There are others on this site that can be helpful for you. You are not alone and this site has been very helpful for me. Thoracic Outlet Syndrome can be a bear to deal with at first, but my life as really improved over time.

Default Hi Sarah

Welcome to Neuro talk. You have been through alot. Have you gotten more than one or two opinions about the TOS after the surgery? I know how difficult it must be with the children. I would also ask in the Social Security forum about the dissability issues. Your doctor should be behind this 100%. The process is long, and a personal letter from all your doctors will help in the long run. A dissability lawyer, or representative is almost a must to keep things moving along. You can't help what happened to you, so I don't think your age will necessarily work against your favor. It is the truth however that this process takes quite awhile. Please get a few more opinions to make sure there is nothing more that can be done to correct the condition. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. I hope alot of others come by to say hello and offer support. ginnie
