Hi, I'm new here, and posted my first thread to peripheral neuropathy sub forum, but thought good to introduce myself here. I am newly diagnosed w idiopathic small fiber neuropathy. I am 42 yr old female trying to work fulltime and have 2 kids. Out of the blue nerve symptoms started last October, which eventually moved from my low back to feet, legs, hands, backside, torso etc. I had extremely painful attack on the left side of my face in the midst of neuro testing, and ended in ER, diagnosed w trigeminal neuralgia. Docs no longer think that, but suspect somehow my trigeminal nerve was impacted by the small fiber neuropathy, though my neurologist has never seen that connection. I had an extensive gum graft 4 months prior to onset of back pain. My neurologist thinks that's too much time in between to be significant. Has anyone seen Novocain or other gum graft impacts cause small fiber neuropathy? Also, given body wide burning and pain, does this put me in the non-length dependent category of SFN? Desperate for relief!

Were you given antibiotics for that graft? Which ones?
Some can cause PN. Metronidazole is one used for jaw work, sometimes. Tindamax is another.

I was not given antibiotic. The procedure was almost 3 hours, and the novocain wore off every 20 min so he did tons of new shots into the roof of my mouth and gums throughout the procedure to re-numb the area. He said I was over processing the medicine. It was incredibly painful for weeks, but no infection.
