My name is Matt, and I am a 37 year old male. I recently suffered my 4th concussion in just over 18 months. After the first two, the healing process was pretty straightforward. I would be dizzy, have headaches, etc. The recovery process would take a few weeks, and everything would return to normal.
The last two concussions, however, have been quite different. Aside from being more "serious" according to the doctors, the recovery periods have become much longer, and the side effects have been much more serious. Aside from the headaches, nausea, dizzy spells, etc., I am starting to notice personality changes and I have been "losing" chunks of time. This is my first experience with an online forum, and I would just like to hear from others who share these symptoms. For what it is worth, the concussions started when I suddenly began passing out (for reasons still not diagnosed). During the last episode, I passed out and fell down my stairs...fracturing my skull above my right eye. While they are trying, my family and friends can't really understand what is happening. I have always been a very laid back person...but recently have noticed that my personality is changing...particularly in the sense that I find myself losing my temper and yelling at those closest to me. It has already cost me a relationship of three years, and many of my friends no longer seem to want to be around me. If anyone could offer advice or share a similar story, I would be extremely grateful. Thanks Matt |
