Default Aneurysm clipped- help!!

Hi All

Where to start!!

15 years ago my mother at the age of 52 years had an brain aneurysm burst and she had surgery to clip aneurysm, which left a large scar and she was never the same person although improved in time. ( but sadly has now passed away due to a separate illness)

5 years after my mothers operation my father had a brain haemorrhage and sadly died at the age of 53.

This left the whole family devastated.

Myself, brother and sister have always been concerned as to who it was going to happen to next!! everytime one of us had a headache we thought this is it!! (ticking time bomb) as the years passed we thought oh its not going to happen!!! until my brother at 51 years got rushed into hospital with a bleed and it was discover that he had multiple aneurysms 1 of which was the size of an egg the bleed had in fact been a stroke.

He had an embolisation procedure performed via his groin on the egg aneurysm which saved his life and they are monitoring the others as they are all small!

Myself and sister decided because of this new procedure emobolisation (EMB) that we should get checked and the doctor agreed as neither one of us were prepared to have the procedure done via entry throught he skull.

Great news my sister had none, unfortunetly I had 3 to say I was upset was an understatement but I had to be positive and they agreed that due to our family history that I should have them EMB asap.

They attempted 2 on the right first 1 succsessful the other failed. 6 month later they attempted the 1 on the left and again that failed. When I say failed this means that had they coiled them I would lose use of opposite side of my body and my speech.

The only option for the 1 on the left was to go in via my skull and to have it clipped it took me quite a while to come to the decision to go ahead with the procedure but my life wasn't my own I was frightened to do anything incase the "time bomb" went off!!

I am very happy to say that I went ahead and had the procedure done a month ago today, yes hair shaven but considerately done as I have long hair I can hide the scar. I have just started back to work reduced hours and I want to get back to normal asap - but im going at my own pace. Yes I still have another one but not sure if anything can be done with it due to its location but hey 2 out 3 aint bad.

I want to know if anyone else has had aneurysm clipped as I want to join a zumba class to help lose wait but concerned that I may cause problems.

Sorry this is long winded but feel much better mentally for getting it all out and lifes looking good for once
