Default Can it be neuropathy?

Hi, I'm a new one here. My problem seems very complicated. I hope somebody can help me I'll try to make it short: I took a three month course of fluoroquinolones, which I started in January last year. In July I developed little tingling in my left arm and a bit of burning on my back part of left thigh. In August I visited a neurologist who said it was a sort of neuropathy and gave me vitamins. I was prescribed NEUROVIT (100mg of B1, 200 mg of pyridoxine and 0,20 mg of B12) once a day for 4 months. When I asked why so long - the doctor told me that nerves need much time to regenerate. So I started taking this medicine. In the meantime I noticed more tingling in both my arms and thighs and then in my legs. At month 3 I started feeling dizzy and I got acne-like rash on my back. I stopped taking neurovit then but my symptoms kept worsening - progressed to my front thighs and upper arms, made my legs feel tight, burning feeling and leg cramps started . I couldn't sleep for a month or so. It looks like a polyneuropathy to me, but 7 doctors I visited denied nerve damage (normal EMG, physical examination, no feet involvement) It's been 7 months since I stopped neurovit but I still feel all this burning and dizzinessAny advice how to reverse it?

Welcome to NeuroTalk:

I had to look up NeuroVit... seems there are more than one formula depending on which country sells it. It is not here in US that I can tell.

I think it is more likely you are suffering from DNA damage to your nerves from the fluoroquinoline antibiotics you took for a long time, than from the supplement.

Here in US there is a doctor who writes about this, and he feels magnesium is the only real help. So you can try soaking in epsom salts baths daily using lukewarm water... and see if that helps.

Here is our fluoroquinolone thread:
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/post661103-2.html

There some links to Dr. Jay Cohen MD about this subject on that post.

This will be difficult to deal with... as the nerve damage from these drugs is complex and not well understood. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but that is the way it is today.
