Question Thoracic anyone?

Hello,
Thank you to all of you that take the time to read and offer advice to those seeking it. I have popped in, on and off, for several years, but have just recently become a member. I'll give a brief history.

2007 A.L.I.F. L4-5 + L5-S1.
2012 A.C.D.F. C6-7.

Most of my pain now, is originating from my thoracic spine, with a lot of referred pain around my ribs on the right side.

Thoracic M.R.I. Results.
T5-6: Right paramedian focal disc herniation indents the ventral thecal sac. There was CSF anterior and posterior to the cord at this level. The neural foramina patent.

T6-7: Right paramedian disc herniation indents the ventral thecal sac and results in mild canal stenosis. Right neural foramen appeared slightly narrowed without impingement or displacement of the exiting nerve root.

T7-8: Right paramediad focal disc herniation indents the thecal sac. No significant canal stenosis or mass effect upon the cord itself was present. Neural foramina patent.

T8-9: Mild left paramedian focal disc herniation indents the ventral thecal sac without significant canal stinosis or foraminal narrowing.

T9-10 Slight degenerative disc bulge is present with mild endplate osteophytes. No canal or foraminal stenosis.

Impression:
Multilevel thoracic spondylosis with multiple mid thoracic focal disc herniations.

(It doesn't read like it should be causing me as much pain as it is, but believe me, it hurts.)
I saw my surgeon last week and he told me that there was no surgery to "fix" this. I asked him if it would get worse, to which he answered, "It's degenerative." This leaves me... confused. Does this mean that only the pain will worsen? (Like that's not bad enough.)
I'm feeling more than a little isolated, trying to navigate my way through this with so little information. Any thing anyone can share with me on this would be a Godsend.
Thank You.
