Do you have a new neuro yet? If not, get a recommendation. Word of mouth is very powerful. Make sure s/he takes any insurance you have, too.

Good luck!

I do too but only have petit mals. I don't lose conciousness. I don't take any meds, just TRY to live a drug-free life. When I Know it's coming on I just stay home, don't drive etc. I usually know within 24 to 48 hours when I am going to have an "Incident".

Seems all the meds my Docs prescribed are now or have been recalled. I have a friend who is just a LapDog to the doctors and she can't even function they have her so filled with drugs. Her quality of life is terrible. I'd rather just live with the symptoms and work around them than to be out of it 100% of the time.

Oh, you asked about doctors??

Hi, Deebee. Welcome!

Here is a link to the Epilepsy Forum here. You will find a very welcoming and helpful bunch there!

The best advice I can give is to come prepared with your medical records and a journal if you keep one. If you don't have one yet, here is a link to information on keeping a Seizure Journal.

Head on over to the Epilepsy area and I'm sure everyone can give you lots of good tips!

DEEBEE,

Welcome to NeuroTalk. Happy to see you have decide to come and join us. I too have epilepsy. I have petit mals which last a short bit of time. I usually have a aura before them and can block them from coming.

Hope to see more of you around.

Darlene

Red face

I just thought I would throw this little bit of info into the mix here. There are 2 otc drugs that I have taken which actually brought on an "Incident". One is Nytol and the other is the OTC diet aid. Of course I NEVER take them now that I know.

Sorry about the prolonged silence.Went to the new Dr.last week(my cousin the ENT recommended him).Going in later this week for more testing. It seems to me that just knowing there are others in my boat, makes it easier to "cope" Thanks for caring.
