Default TBI Recovery Information Needed - Newbie

Hello New Friends,

On June 7th, my boyfriend Daniel was assaulted and sustained a severe TBI (was a 6 on the GCS 24 hours after injury with a 7 mm midline shift).
Obviously, for those of you who have been through this, finding good information is hard.
Daniel is in a rehab facility now, but is struggling with staying awake for therapy and isn't making any gains. He has regular sleep/wake cycles, cannot speak, move, etc. He's still got a PEG tube, and continues to fight infection constantly (UTI, Pneumonia, Thrush, you name it, he's had it.)
My question for you all is... how can I help him best? I'm constantly talking to him (when he's not sleeping), helping with this therapy, etc. He just isn't progressing past the three on the Rancho Scale and can't participate in therapy much. Some days it is so disheartening.
Any advice or great stories of recovery that you can share would be super helpful.
Thank you!

Em

hi welcome to the board. I know firsthand about mild injury symptoms but not too much abuot your boyfriend's condition. a guy who might know a bunch is mark_from_idaho you might want to try to email him directly or send a message directly to him I do know that it is way early in your boyfriend's recover and that it sounds like he is getting the appropriate care. I really hope he gets better and if you need o just vent here is the place to do it, as there are many understanding people here.
