Default New here been taking Gabapentin for a month

Hi i was diagnosed with 3 herniated discs and spinal stenosis, tried an epideral shot but it didn't help so doctor said we could try a drug called gabapentin. I knew nothing about the drug, i started off with a small dose and worked my ways up to 300 mg 3 x daily did fine with that dosage then was suppose to up it gradually to 600mg 3 x daily. Soon found out i can't take that amount it made me so dizzy and lightheaded as to where i wanted to pass out and also gave me severe diarrhea. Talk with nurse and they said to stay at 300 mg dose 3 x daily.
Still having some pain but not as bad as before starting it. Does anyone have any advice on anything else to take. Thanks for reading.

Default Hi aroseindeed

Gabapenten is one of those meds. that some people can take higher doses, and some cannot. I was one that couldn't. There are also people on this site that can help you read your MRI if you need that. If this is nerve pain from the disks, I don't know many other drugs specific for that. I had severe muscle spasms, and was prescribed Soma and that helped with the pain issues. What other things has your doctor suggested? Glad you found Neuro Talk. Welcome to the site. You will find good people to help you. ginnie

Hi Aroseindeed,

I see that you have another introduction thread on gabapentin, and wondered if perhaps you did not realize there are some replies in there too. Here is the link to that thread:
