Default Looking for answers

I am 52 years old, and have been in reasonably good health. Asthma - but under control. Miracles happen. HAD rheumatoid arthritis. Now gone - no symptoms, and no meds now.

About 5 weeks ago, I had what I thought was a small cut on my right leg. took care of it bandage and all. Then went to a picnic. The "cut" began to feel like needles stabbing my leg. Took bandage off, and it took a patch of skin with it. Long story short as it is ugly - The flies liked it a lot. The next day I had a huge rash like patch on my leg. Diagnosed as Shingles. It is healing up fine. Still tender.

About a week later, new things started happening. Off and on fatigue, and difficulty focusing my thoughts. There have also been episodes where the right side of my body has spasms (same side as my "cut"). Arm or leg will have either a tick or a full violent spasm. Some facial twitches. Also there have been burring of the vision in the right eye.

Doctors have no clue as to what is happening. Then suggest psychiatry, and ask if the flies were real flies. A lot of tests have been done, including two lumbar punctures. All have been normal, except the last LP. They have not said what that has shown yet. First LP had elevated protein, but minimal. They hinted at maybe a virus. Just maybe - very maybe.

I am hunting for clues, and support. Thank you.

Default It continues

The doctors gave me a antidepressant to help me sleep. Now I find, off and on, that when at rest my heart is beating at 100 per minute. Now I wait, and wait for an answer again. Want to scream.

Default Hi totvwp

Welcome to Neuro talk. Have you been tested for lymes disease? Yes a virus can cause a sustained auto immune response. Shingles, I am not sure if it cause the number of symptoms you are experiencing. Please do call your doctor about it again. Virus, can do very strange things to a person. I hope you get over this soon and that all the symptoms stop. ginnie
