Default Hi...

So, I'm pretty shy and this is a little difficult.

Hello, I'm Laura, and I have L4-L5 and L5-S1 disc problems, namely herniations like crazy. I've had two surgeries (laminectomies? I'm not certain on the nomenclature.), three corticosteroid epidural injection sets, and now it's looking like pain medicine prescriptions for who knows how long, or a spinal fusion surgery in my future.

It's been a trying couple of years, and figured maybe I could get some insight here.

Thank you for your time!
-Laura

Hi Laura, welcome.

There's a pretty good Spinal Disorders & Back Pain forum here, archives of questions, answers, and opinions going back seven years or so... No need to be shy—jump in when you're ready.

I've got lumbar issues myself—bone on bone—been through the mill, and going for a re-evaluation soon, so no stranger to some of what you're going through.

You're not alone; we're all here to help each other.

Doc

Just wanted to add my welcome too!! The Doc gave you the best link to be able to talk to folks with similar symptoms. It might be time to look at different options...get a good Back surgeon or Neuro surgeon to look into your problems...pain....

Default Hi Laura

Hi Laura, Welcome to Neuro talk. You will find support here. It is OK to be shy.
Sorry you are having issues with the lumbar spine. I was cervical. I hope you do not have to have more surgery. Has your doc. discussed the domino effect to you? I also had a treatment, Ketamine infusions which did a whole lot better for me than the steroid injections which made me even more sore. It didn't hurt either. Hope you find some resolution and not the surgical route. ginnie
