Confused New here...

I'm new to this forum... But not new to the world of medication...

I came across these forums and began reading about certain medications and the issues that others are having with the medications. Seems quite interesting and I actually feel like people here will understand more than me trying to explain my situation to someone who has no clue...

Hopefully I can offer my help and experiences that I have had, and get feedback on some of the things no one else can help me with...

Thanks,
miss.red

Thank you so very much

I don't know where to begin... I am 21 years old, I was diagnosed with Bipolar 1 Disorder at the age of 11. Shortly after, I was diagnosed with PTSD, ODD, major depression disorder, severe anxiety disorder and borderline personality traits. I have been on a variety of medications (some which weren't prescribed to me, but to my younger brother). Most did not work for long and others just didn't work at all. I have done damage to my body out of anger and pain. Thankfully my scars are not that visible. I have tried to make the pain stop permanently, but after trying and having a little voice in my head asking if I fed the animals I snapped back. I've been looked at as sick, weird, stupid, selfish and so much more. My own family couldn't seem to understand how to handle it. Which is odd because my brother (16 months younger than me) has mostly the same diagnoses as me but was also diagnosed with ADD and ADHD. And after hearing "you'll never be able to do anything with your life. You're just looking for attention", most of my life... It took a major toll. But I surprised everyone when I graduated from high school with 26 credits(only needed 22),high honors and almost a 3.9 GPA. Then instead of going to college, got my CNA certification and worked as a CNA for a while... There is just so much more but, at the end of the day... I think about what I have accomplished... Even if I don't sleep more than a few hours (which i am haunted by the things that I have been through)... I think I have done okay so far...

Default You Have Done GREAT !

Oh sweet girl....your academics are very impressive. 3.9 GPA is awesome. You are so young and have your whole life in front of you. I'm 51, was laid off last sept from a job I had for 26 years and absolutely loved, had a hysterectomy and they found cancer, went through 6 rounds of chemo, Taxol/Carbo and wound up with small fiber neuropathy.

I've only been on neurotalk for a week or two but I've gotten more out of talking to these nice folks than all my doctors combined. You will find help here. Don't give up and don't listen to negative people. I have bad days that I completely meltdown but I always get up the next morning knowing it's a new day and just happy to be here.

I'm usually on the neuropathy site if you need me. Please read threads related to your issues and then read some more and interact with those people who will be so nice and supportive of you !

Take care and I'll catch up with you another day so see how it's going.

Lots of hugs to you sweet girl

Debi (I have all the doors and windows open, sitting on the loveseat with my feet on an ottoman listening to my sweet dog bark at things I cannot see...lol....and by the way....I'm a southern girl.....Georgia)

Wink

We are always to here to help each other. Each out the members here have some sort of handicap to deal with. I myself have had epilepsy ever since I was little and starting that early in life, 50 years ago. In December of 2009 I had surgery and ever since then have not had a seizure. Everyone need to always keep faith for a solution.

Here are some forums for you to check out, there are a number of people to help you out. Also I am sure you will be there for others.
