Exclamation Fosomax, Forteo and Fractures

Does anyone have experience with Fosomax and Forteo? I have taken Fosomax for about 7 years and then had two extremity fractures (heel and elbow), plus a stress fracture in the same foot. I have had a heel fusion as the outcome of one of the fractures. Before taking Fosomax I was okay except for osteopenia. Now my doctor recommends Forteo. I need info soon because she wants to start it in a couple of weeks, to prevent more fractures. Thank you!

Welcome, OhioBones! Love your name. Ohio was my birthplace. And I can sure understand the bones part, I've had osteoporosis for well over 5 years. I took Fosamax at first, but it gave me heartburn big time, so my Dr switched me to Actonel. I've never heard of Forteo, sorry. Hopefully one of the others with more experience can give you some kind of answer. Fortunately, I've never fractured a bone, but I'm in constant dread that I will. With my MG, sometimes I'm not to steady.
I looked to see if we have an osteoporosis forum, and apparently we don't, nor do I see anywhere it would fit. Am I missing something, guys? You may want to post your question in the general health conditions forum.

Default Are you on the Forteo...

due to thyroid issues? Do you have hyper or hypo-thyroid? It mite be an auto-immune thyroid aspect which is the hyper/hypo thyroid going one step further...take a look at the autoimmune disorders forum further down the list. I have now an auto-immune related thyroid connected to other Auto-immune issues...It's confusing for sure, but there are lots of us all around the boards! Don't despair!
I too am going thru the passage from osteopenia to 'porosis'...Partly due to my issues but also my meds for them...It does sound like your docs are on top of it! - j
