Smile Hi, New Here

Hello everyone. I am so glad I found this forum. I have been so alone with this disease for so long. My name is Tara and I am 50 years old. I have been unable to work since Jan 2013 because of P.N. I never thought I could feel so much pain in my life. My symptoms are severe electric stabbing pains in my arms and neck headaches blurred vision. Horrible nighttime spasms in arms and legs that keep me up all night. Lose of muscle strength in legs and arms. I feel like my legs weigh a ton. Dizziness and breathlessness. Digestion problems as well as pelvic problems. Ive tried several different meds to no help at all. The thought that I will have to live the rest of my life like this is almost to much to bear so days. I pray everyday. Its nice to know there are others out there like me

Smile Hi Tara!

Welcome to NT!

You've come to the right place for support, care, and lots of good information about PN. When I read your intro, I had to do a double-take, cuz it looks just like mine when I first joined here!
So many people here completely understand what you are going through.
Please check out the Peripheral Neuropathy forum! Here's the link to take you there: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/fo...sprune=-1&f=20

You'll be amazed at how much information there is on PN. Once you gain a better understanding of what this nasty condition is, you won't have to feel so much like a 'victim', rather, a fighter!

There ARE things that can be done to help with the terrible symptoms.

My heart truly goes out to you. We are the same age and I too am unable to work, and am looking at applying for disability.
There is a forum here specifically for Disability in case you are considering this. So many helpful people here.

It's nice to have you!
Caring,
Rae

Hi Tara:

Welcome. I see that you have been given the link to the PN forum. You'll make lots of new friends there. I have a question. Do you know your B-12 level?. If you have been taking blood tests, maybe you can find and share the results with us. I was amazed at what I found out about various deficiencies and what havoc they can wreak on one's body. I'm not saying your symptoms are caused by a B-12 deficiency but many of your symptoms might just be attributed to a deficiency in one thing or another. There's a wealth of info on these forums.

So please keep posting.

Take care, Melody
