Confused Biography

Hi, My name is Camrin, at 15 years of age I was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis type 1. Neurofibromatosis is small tumors on your head or other areas of the body. Some of the symptoms might be brown spots throughout your entire body similar to birth marks. After the doctor diagnosed me with that I also had anxiety problems. I was than put on medicine called paxil. The teachers new that I was on it and they used to ask me if I took it or not. Sometimes, I would say yes and other times I would say no. I didnt like being on anxiety medicine because it made me feel so stupid.

Hello Camrin and welcome to NeuroTalk.

Unless the teachers were dispensing Paxil they had no business asking if you had taken it or not.

Don't feel stupid. Medications like Paxil help you not feel so anxious and allow you to do things that the anxiety was stopping you from doing.

Again....Welcome

Hi, Camrin, glad you made it. Bummer about the Fibro but it sounds like you have a pretty good grip on it.

I've been on Paxil for a long time for MS-related depression and we did put me on a lower dose when I experienced some of what you mentioned. Deninitely talk to your doctor and your parents about it, medicine only helps if it's taken, and if it's the right one for you.

I agree with Snoopy that your teachers have no business knowing what your medicines are or when they're taken. You're not 7 and defiant of your Ritalin, for crying out loud.

Chemar and Snoopy are pretty cool, they'll help you find your way around. Stay with us, this is a great group of people and though we have many different conditions, we all have one thing in common: we care.
