Default Arachnoid Cyst on Left Frontal Temporal Lobe of Brain

Hi. I'm Patty and I am a newbie.
About December 31, 2010 my daughter and I got hit head on in the middle turning lane. The guy who hit us, hit car was really messed up which tells me he was speeding in the middle turning lane.
That was the first whiplash/concussion.
Then not long after the accident, I was still so upset emotionally from the accident that I slipped on my bathroom floor and hit my head I believe on the left side of my head SUPER HARD on a concrete floor!!
About a week later, I started getting weird headaches and pressure.
Like many, it wasn't til later when I read the CT report that it mentioned that I had an Arachnoid Cyst. I was so upset I wasn't told but I think the ER doctor knew I had already researched too much on the internet about blood clots and I think he just wanted to skim over it so I wouldn't freak out.

I know that part of what the ER seems to do is get you in and out and want you to see your primary doctor to diagnose.

Intense pressure in my head from what I agree was Post Concussive Disorder continued. The doctor denied also telling me that when I was in the ER that "Your particular brain has a lot of fluid in it. But that is normal for some people."

He didn't want me freaking out or doing anymore research.

Well, many months later after taking Benedryl, Natural Progesterone pills from an RX called Prometrium. Thankfully Prometrium now come in generic!!

By the way, just as an FYI: I don't think it is coincidence that NIH is now doing a study of whether Natural Progesterone can help people with brain conditions!!!

I had already done extensive research on natural progesterone to balance my hormones. Too much Estrogen makes one retain fluid, natural Progesterone helps relieve fluid. By the way, both men and women have estrogen, progesterone and testosterone.

Once my symptoms finally faded away except sometimes during my cycle, I just wanted to forget about it all and move on with my life.

I did have a One MRI which confirmed the Arachnoid Cyst.

Here is my current situation that I need comfort and support for:
One night a week or so ago, I took a bath and washed my hair in the tub. (Now I know not a good idea). When I got out of the tub, I noticed some shampoo suds were in my ears so I dried them some. Within the next day or so, I noticed vertigo pretty bad. I figured I had gotten water in my ears and it would subside. Well, now I'm getting worried because it has been nearly a week and I am still pretty dizzy and feel drunk in the head and when I walked!

That's when it dawned on me: "This is how I felt after the concussion from hitting my head on the bathroom floor!!"

Now bear in mind that I already suffer since birth Forman anxiety disorder and depression. After my fall, I did not have any anxiety med left and it was VERY SCARY!! Thankful to Jehovah God, after praying specifically that is He wanted and felt I needed anxiety medicine (I even specified the name Lorazepam in my prayer that He would direct me to a GOOD doctor who would prescribe it for me.

So, this time around I have my anxiety med to cope!!

I just want to relate one experience to make a point and then I hope I get a flood of comments or similar experiences.

First, my plan is to get a new MRI and a GOOD neurologist or neurosurgeon ( you all can tell me which is best).
Also as a side point: we just got snow and the pressure and weird feeling in my head increased plus we are getting snow this morning til afternoon. I live in the eastern panhandle of WV and grew up in Maryland.

An elderly woman from my congregation found out she had an aneurysm in her abdomin. Insurance would not pay til it was a certain size.
Those of you with Hydrocephalus can relate to this. Well, long story short, once the aneurysm was large enough the doctors say no, we can't do it you are too weak or old to have surgery and you wouldn't survive!!

That is like someone with gangrene who is told they can't be helped until it's time to amputate or you die.

From what I have researched with Arachnoid Cysts is they can do NOTHING or they can grow SO BIG that it is LIFE THREATENINGing because it can push too hard on blood vessels and cause hemorrhaging!!!

My dear friend from my congregation passed away because the aneurysm was like a time bomb that could go off at any time. And that it did and she bled to death!!!!! UNACCEPTABLE!!!

Look HOW LONG it has taken for Alternative Medicine to break the mold of SOME UNACCEPTABLE Conventional Medicine!!!!

It is NO DIFFERENT WITH HYDROCEPHALUS, ANEURYSMS OR ARACHNOID CYSTS!!! REASONABLE TREATMENT HAS TO BEGIN FROM THE GET-GO just like it is for a child with Diabetes!! TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!!!

Thanks for letting me vent and hearing my speech!!
With Deep Conviction and Warmth,
Patty K.

Smile Hi Patty!

Welcome to NT!

You've indeed come to a great place for support and understanding. You will find many caring people here.

I am so sorry about that accident which has left you with these frustrating symptoms. And the fall on the concrete, and losing your friend...

Regarding these conditions you are faced with, you'll find good information and feedback here at NT. ....better than searching the web . I too am 'guilty as charged' as doing 'too much' research online. It took me in circles and I had myself convinced that I had 50 different diseases!

It's hard enough to be faced with these scary symptoms. What this can do to us mentally is another whole battle of it's own. I too have battled depression and anxiety (due to my chronic pain) and I am forever grateful for this place to be able to come to.
I'm so glad you've found Neurotalk. There are forums here specifically for each of these issues and you'll find that there is a friend around every corner.

Make yourself right at home. The atmosphere here is very down-to-earth and the caring here is genuine.

For something like the arachnoid cyst, I did a 'search' and it brought up quite a few posts, so hopefully this will be of benefit to you as well. The 'Search' button is toward the top of the screen where the bar runs across the page.

It'll be nice getting to know you, Patty.
It's great to have you!

Caring,
Rae

....keep that faith in Almighty God. Isn't it absolutely awesome how He leads and guides us. And when we are too 'weak' to climb these mountains we face, He is always there to carry us.
