Hello everyone.

It is a great relieve to have found NeuroTalk

My situation comes along all ready about 9 years and still I don't have all the answers I would have liked to have. I hope I can find some here and even be able to provide some where possible.

I'm currently doing this thread from hospital, where I'm about to receive my before last treatment of high dosage IV Solu-medrol (prednisone) for neuro symptoms apparently caused by a flair up of the brain lesion in the region of the posterior limb of my left capsule.

My symptoms are mostly presented with recurrent left hemispheric symptoms which means my right side always gets affected.

In this 9 years time I at least got to find out the following:
The sudden entire right side paralysis I woke up with one morning in November 2004, at age 25 was indeed a thalamic stroke and not encephalitis neuropathy, guillan-barre or simply stress (Although the neurosurgeon currently treating me brought up the possibility of the lesion being present when I was born already)
I was also diagnosed in December 2012 with central pain syndrome, but my symptoms are not consistent all the time and I have these flair ups from time to time when the lesion becomes active and inflamed. These symptoms can then be compared to those of a MS patient when they occur.
Most certainly the best thing that was discovered up to now, is the treatments that were found for me, which I'm most thankful for. If it wasn't for a certain neurologist that introduced me to Solu-medrol for the "peak periods" of my symptoms and Gaga pent in and Effexor for the "milder periods", I think I would have be in sane already

Just wanted to say 'Hi' and welcome to the site. I would say I'm sorry you're in the hospital but sounds like it's helping you out

I have small fiber neuropathy and also take gabapentin.

Central pain related situations are among the most mysterious (and least known) syndromes, even by neurologists.

Most of the best information I've seen about them comes from patients themselves.

Thank you guys for the caring responses

I was discharged yesterday after being admitted to a different hospital on Thursday for extensive testing.

A MRI, LP, blood tests, EMC testing and EEG was performed. From the MRI the lesion or cyst on my left brain was confirmed again, but stable. During the EMC testing it was found I have nerve damage in my right leg from the knee downwards. And from the LP results already available the counts above normal point to either MS or a TIA.

The other results are however pending and could take up to 2 weeks to be concluded and only then will my neurologist be able to make a possible diagnoses and treatment suggestion.

In the meanwhile she has added Ecotrin 81mg to my medication.

Hoping for the first time in 9 years answers will be found
