Good morning. My name is Janell and I'm having a problem with my toes.
I've had two back surgeries for herniated discs. I herniated 3 discs in my back about 4 years ago. We got one to heal by itself but I needed to have two surgeries for my L4/L5 discs. I had my first surgery 2 years ago - partial discesctomy - and then had to repeat the surgery last year for the same problems. I have sever sciattica and nerve damage from the herniation and subsequent surgeries. My problem right now is that my toes are freezing. Not my whole foot, and there are no color changes. You can physically feel the difference in temperature from the main part of my foot and my toes. My toes are cold and a little paler from the rest of my foot. I have been searching the internet for freezing toes and all I can find are articles on cold feet. My feet aren't cold. Just my toes. I am 41 years old, non diabetic and have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and Nueropathy. But my toes are so freaking cold that it hurts. I have been wearing toe warmers - the kind that campers or hunters wear in their boots at night - but it's getting a little expensive. Does anyone have any idea what the heck is going on with my toes? Thanks so much. |

Welcome to NeuroTalk:
There are some diabetic foot creams with arginine in them. They might work for you to increase circulation to the affected toes: There are many brands, so Google "diabetic cream l-arginine" to find one. Once you find some, you can order off Amazon.com if local stores don't have it. These creams tend to be a bit costly...so prepare for that. And no guarantees it will work 100% but it is worth trying IMO. I would apply to both the instep and toes.

I hope I am replying correctly to everyone. Not 100% sure how these message boards work.
I want to say a big Thanks for the welcome. I've been reading around and this place looks and sounds really great. MrsD - I will look for those foot creams. Poor circulation and nerve damage seem to go hand-in-hand on certain things. Thank yo all again. I really appreciate it. ![]() |
