Hello everyone,
When I was 12 years old a head impact left me with a TBI that largely went untreated. That same year I underwent a heart surgery in which the blood supply to my brain was blocked for a brief period, leading to concern from the surgeon when I woke up, but never any follow-up. During my childhood I also experienced sexual abuse that eventually turned into rape (also when I was 12), which left me with PTSD and social difficulties. Over the years attempts have been made to treat those PTSD symptoms, but with very little success. I'm now 31 years old and and am trying to distinguish what parts of my issues are due to PTSD, and what parts could be due to the TBI, so that I can figure out the best way to try to find a way to function normally in life. |

Trebyn,
Glad you are here. I have a tbi and PTSD. Have you seen a neuropsychologist? Mine has been great helping me understand what's happening to me and how to use strategies for the tbi and also the PTSD. Stay with us. They people here are great and help sooth us, educated us, celebrate with us, and cry too. You picked a good community. See you in the tbi/concussion thread. Peace and wellness, ![]() Jace
