I'm so happy to have found this wonderful site!
I'm about 4,000 miles away from home, on a genealogy road trip, and my body is doing even stranger things than normal! A recent EEG has confirmed what I already knew (daughter is an RN, and I'm a good researcher); i.e. I've been having simple partial seizures for several years. I also have been diagnosed with: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (30 yrs ago); on spironolactone, and have avoided diabetes with careful diet and, until recently, exercis Hypo thryroid: been on synthroid for 30 years Asthma and many environmental allergies But for the last couple of years I've been struggling with exercise intolerance (fatigue, overheating, excessive sweating)even doing housework. Anything that involves standing up and/or bending down. Constipation is a problem, and I work at reducing it. Faintness on standing abruptly, with big changes in blood pressure and heart rate. Nasty muscle cramps all over: feet, legs, hands, abs. And now, so far from home, I've developed in "inner shakiness". It feels like I'm a vibrating chair, and someone has put in their quarter!! As well, I had one day where shooting pains went through my left leg, making me call out with pain. Then my left index finger and thumb started dancing all by themselves?! I have had a consultation with a neurologist, who told me that the results of my eeg were a little "off", but this was to be expected at my age!! I'm 64, not exactly ancient. Then, when waiting to have a 2nd EEG to explore a possible brain aneurysm (negative) I was given my file at the hospital to take into the imaging room. So I read it! It said, in caps: ABNORMAL; recommended a sleep test, as my brain waves were clearly doing things they shouldn't. In spite of leaving 2 messages after the 2nd mri with this neuro, I hadn't heard back three weeks later. I saw my gp, and he offered to write a letter to the neuro. A week later his office phone me back with an apt with the neuro in August! Parkinsons runs in my father's family (dad's brother, his aunt, and at least 3 cousins in his generation. My neuro had me walk across his office, and told me I don't have Parkinsons. So what the heck is going on in my body? If not Parkinsons, then what? I'll be back home in Vancouver in 2 weeks, and will immediately make an apt with my gp. I've kept a diary of all these weird body happenings, and will take it with me. Thanks so much for allowing me to share my concerns, and learn so much from reading other posts. It is VERY comforting! |

Hi,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups. Is it possible that the Spironolactone or the Synthroid is causing some of these issues ("inner shakiness") you're having right now. Maybe the doses need adjustment? MedlinePlus - Synthroid/Levothyroxine MedlinePlus - Spironolactone You certainly have a lot going on and it must be worrying to be away from home while you're feeling this way. I'm not really sure exactly where to direct you, but I'll post some links below... Epilepsy Forum Women's Health Forum Medications & Treatments Forum Parkinson's Disease Forum Autoimmune Diseases p.s. the diary is a great idea. I hope you are feeling better soon and that you get some answers. Last edited by Lara; 06-11-2014 at 02:51 PM. |

So sorry you are having all these problems
![]() Lara is right about the inner shakiness and thyroid meds either being too high or too low....my mom doesn't have a thyroid (burned up with drugs in 1963) and she can tell if her thyroid is off because she 'shakes inside'. Please keep us posted ! We care about you ![]() Debi from Georgia |
