Default C5 Palsy in Both Arms after surgery

HI, My mom has fusion of the C3, C4, and C5 and has paralysis in both arms with her left hand very weak but some strength in her right hand. It has been two week and she has seen no progress. We are trying to keep her spirits up as she was very active before this surgery. Her first appointment is in 4 weeks seems like this is too long given the usunual case of both arms with palsy. So, We have researched a bit but are very very sad and concerned about our mom. She is 74 and not sure of the furutre. Any help..suggestions? Also what about occupational help...bathroom (Japanese toilet - self cleaning), how to get dressed. she does manage to eat... THanks for any advise help etc...

Hello,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.
If you can repost over on the
Spinal Disorders & Back Pain Forum
you will find information and support.

What a terrible situation to be in after surgery.
I'm sorry your Mom needs to wait 4 weeks for her appointment.
It must be very concerning for you all.

p.s. If you run a "Search this Forum" in the Spinal Forum, and use the keyword "palsy" you
will find some previous posts.
There are a couple of people there who had the same experience but it resolved in time.

Unhappy How did your mom do?

I am looking for others with the same situation. My husband is 4 weeks out of surgery with similar symptoms.
