Default Introduction with an important question

Hi, I was diagnosed with ms 1974 now the current neurologist says I have neurodegenerative disease, which doing a search on it shows that it is an umbrella disease which ms is one. The neuro says I show different aspects of several diseases under this umbrella and he doesn't know how to treat it or what to label it.

Has anyone else been diagnosed with this?

Back to introduction; I am 58, male, from Pennsylvania, wheelchair user much of the time - rarely out of it. Past career was as a computer specialist running a computer help desk lately have been working on websites (intern no pay) using Dreamweaver. Some of my interests include bible studies, computers, digital photography, meeting people and making friends.

Welcome Bob-pa.

Your neurologist says you have a neurodegenerative disease under an umbrella of which MS is one. Does your neurologist mean a disease under the umbrella (as it is called) of the MDA? CMT is one of those.

Perhaps DNA blood testing would be in order. What symptoms do you have and is there a family history that someone in the family has similar symptoms such as you have? Just curious.

Kitt, no member of my family has anything like this, symptoms are severe weakness in arms and legs, which get worse it seems day by day, I have trouble reaching lower light switches on the wall, problems reaching in the washer to do laundry, can reach into refrigerator and oven but very hard.

My range of motion is getting worse each time it is checked, which has been frequent lately.

Hello Bob_pa,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

Perhaps you could ask on the MS Forum, considering that was your original diagnosis.
The members there may have some information or suggestions for you.
