Default Celiac Neuropathy

I have Celiac disease and I have perpherial neuropathy from the neck down. I have severe pain in my hands which makes it very hard to function in my world. I do not think that Celiac caused my neuropathy hwever convincing my physicans has not been successful. I would like to know if anyone else is suffering from neuropathy from Celiac disease.

Hi,

The Gluten File is probably the best source for gluten/celiac information. I suggest you explore this weekend and then look for replies to your question after the weekend (which tend to be slower).

Also, the peripheral neuropathy forum here is exceptional.

Hi Endicott,

Welcome to NeuroTalk!

Go to: http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/sh...ad.php?t=29425 which is the coeliac/celiac/gluten free forum of NeuroTalk.

There are others there that are experiencing PN from CD.

I also have started to develop neuropathy which is progressive, you might need to see a neurologist and have him evaluate your B12 and B6 levels, without these levels being where they should be causes the neuropathy.Because you are a celiac, your damaged flora and villi cannot process your food to support the use of the B vitamins.I hope you are practicing the gluten free diet,it's the only way to begin healing the flora and villi. It's very difficult to practice this lifestyle, one needs a nutrishionist to help you through it.Good luck and god bless. ccardsr
