New-Looking at Surgery
Hello all. I am a 47 yr old female with multiple problems. I have herniation and stenosis in my cervical spine, bulging disks in my Thoracic spine, Herniated disks in my Lumbar spine. I also have Trigeminal Neuralgia...which is a nerve issue at the TMJ joint that effects facial nerves. On the lesser side of things, I have carpel tunnel in both hands and sciatica. On 10/16/14 I was in a major car accident. My car was T-Boned on the drivers side and it rolled. It landed driver's side down and somehow I had slipped out of the seat belt. The side air bags deployed but not the front. I had just had 2 ESI's in my neck in the previous 4 weeks because I had lost feeling in my left hand due to stenosis at C4-C6. I was truly blessed to not be paralyzed. Because I have 20 years experience in dealing with pain and have been on pain medication I was able to deal with the injuries and return to work. I have had recent MRI's and now I am to see a Nuero surgeon. I don't think I am able to have surgery but that is why I am here...I am interested in knowing more about how people cope with surgery. See, I am a single mom of a 3yr old who still needs to be lifted at times. He still tries to wrestle me to the ground in play. We are alone in the world except for a gentleman I date but don't see that often. I have no help...no family or close friends that could move in with me for 6 weeks. I don't think it is possible to have surgery. I understand you cant even lift a gallon of milk. I am trying to get the nitty gritty on surgery and recovery.
