Hi Wilbur,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

Check the Movement Disorders Forum

Also, there's a Forum Search Feature here.

If you type in a specific keyword e.g. ataxia , that will bring up past posts and threads as some of them are spread around in different places.

take care there.

Hello Wilbur and welcome to NeuroTalk.

I am sure you will find many on NeuroTalk who deal with Ataxia, myself included. My problems are a result of a Neurological Disease but there are different causes for Ataxia.

Information about Ataxia:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0003682/

Default Glad I found you

]Help is the only word that comes to mind, after trips to Mayo in Jacksonville, Duke University and finally Johns Hopkins my diagnosis is episodic Ataxia.

They have prescribed a medication that treats altitude problems as well
Ive been taking that for about 2 weeks now with some good results.

I have been battling this problem for about 4 years and I am really tired
of the process My Doctor at Hopkins has recommended genetic testing
but Im a bit wary of the $14,400 price tag with results not guaranteed

I was wondering if anyone has tried the drug discs behind the ears
that help with balance and is sold in bait stores for motion illness.

Any help will be appreciated and bless you for helping.

Hello dowman,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

You could check out the
Movement Disorders Forum

There is also a forum search feature that enables us to type in keywords and finds older posts and threads. You could try that with the name of your medication or even just the term ataxia or episodic ataxia.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php

Let us know if you need any help.

Head-Spin:

I had Ataxia when I drank 2 liters of Diet Mountain Dew within an 8 hour period. It was really scary and ended up going to the hospital. It turned out that I had a chemical imbalance and too much caffeine and chemicals from the preservatives/additives from that much of the soda.

Hello, Wilbur. This site has a lot of information: http://psychcentral.com/encyclopedia/2008/ataxia/
Mayo Clinic Staff: http://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-c...n-20030428?p=1

Good luck here.
