Default I was hit in the back of the head on the basketball court.

I didn't black out, and I remember the injury. It was my first major blow to the head I've taken in my life. I'm just confused about what happened that day, and what will happen in the near future. I've already been to the ER, and had a CT scan done - which came back completely clean. This injury took place roughly two weeks ago (on Tuesday).

That night, I literally fell asleep in my chair, passed out. I proceeded to sleep probably 24 of the next 36 hours. I was just exhausted.

I decided to go into the ER that morning, and I was given the diagnosis of a "closed head injury", but the words "concussion" were never used.

Since then, it's been just weird. I feel off, I don't speak as clearly, or eloquently, I don't seem to have the attitude, and the flare that I used to have. I just don't feel like myself.

I've drank, three times, and the next day I feel horrible. Like many young men on this board (I'm 30), I do go out, and have a good time. In fact, I've worked in the entertainment industry for the last few years, and developed many of my contacts from drinking, and partying, and the like.

I have a tension on the side of my temple on the same side the injury took place, and it seems to worsen whenever I take a drink of alcohol, or even redbull.

I just don't know what's wrong with me, or how long this is going to last.

I'm excited to join the board, and hopefully I can learn more about whatever injury I have, and what I can do to help myself perform at a higher level in the interim.

Thanks guys.

Hello and welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

You should check out the

Traumatic Brain Injury & Post Concussion Syndrome Forum

At the top of that forum there are the "Sticky" threads containing very useful links and information about TBI and PCS.

All the best to you. It's early days yet and you need to take it easy and hopefully you'll recover very fast. Just my opinion, but in the meantime it might be a good idea to stay away from alcoholic drinks and also things like energy drinks.

Hi DOMJD

Welcome to NeuroTalk - I hope that you find the community as knowledgeable and supportive as I have.

I agree with what Lara wrote about avoiding alcohol and energy drinks for the time being.

A friend of mine was concussed when playing hockey. Her care team advised her to avoid both until she was fully recovered, which she now is.

All the best.
