Hello, my name is Michael. I am a 35 year old man that has just been diagnosed with Adhesive Arachnoiditis, and I'm trying to do everything the doctors want me to do.
I have had some health issues over the past 7 1/2 years. I had a Lumbar Fusion done ( L-4 - L-5 & L-5 - S-1) in August of 2007. Since the Lumbar Fusion surgery I have had a few other health issues. I had a Mild Heart Attack in September of 2011. I had Hernia Surgery done in October 2013. I was diagnosed with a D.V.T in May of 2014, and now I have been diagnosed with Adhesive Arachmoiditis. I have been trying to find away to tolerate the pain that I am having now by taking pain medication, muscle relaxers, pain management and physical therapy. I'm starting to worry about the doctors that I am currently seeing for one simple reason. My Internal Medicine Doctor and my Physical Therapist have never heard of Adhesive Arachnoiditis. My Physical Therapist said she had to look it up the night before we met in the office because she had never heard of it. That kind of scares me. The Pain Management doctor that I went and seen for the first time the other day said that if I am not willing to get the steroid injections than there is nothing he can do for me because he doesn't just write out pain medication. I had already done some research on Adhesive Arachnoiditis Treatments and it said right there that steroid injections can cause Arachnoiditis, and that surgery has a poor outcome only give temp relief. I know they say that a lot of people that are diagnosed with depression and often have thoughts of suicide because of the extreme amount of pain that they are in. I want to thank you all for giving me the chance to tell my story. Please feel free to comment or write back on any information you may have about Adhesive Arachnoiditis, or you can email me at *edit* Last edited by Jomar; 04-30-2015 at 01:11 AM. Hello Michael,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups. I'm very sorry that you're dealing with such a painful condition. Just my opinion, but if you don't have confidence in your doctors or their methods of pain management, it's probably time to make a change. You could try doing a search for - adhesive arachnoiditis - in the Forum Search Feature I just did that myself and found quite a number of older posts/threads. Also, here is the link to the Chronic Pain Forum Have a check in the search feature and maybe look around the site here as I'm sure you'll find a lot of support and information to help you deal with pain from your condition. take care. |
