Default Hi, looking for help

I just joined today but have been readng this and other forums for a little while now. I'm here to gain some knowledge and hopefully help me get better. A little about me. I'm a 34 year old veteran who has a history of concussions/epilepsy/ocd. I had been doing well until about a year ago when I suffered a bad concussion. Fast forward nearly 1 year later and I'm having severe depression and anxiety, ocd seems out of control and my anger is tearing myself and my family apart. I don't know what happened when I fell but some sort of chemical change has seemed to occur. My neurologist and other doctors say post concussion syndrome.

Anyway, I'm looking for some helpful info on taking inositol powder, P5P and magnesium glycinate. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi AFVeteran80,

Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I'll post some links below although if you've been reading here before now you'll probably know where they are.

TBI and Post Concussion Syndrome Forum

Anxiety and OCD

Epilepsy Forum

Vitamins, Nutrients, Herbs & Supplements

You'll find lots of posts by using the Forum Search Feature too especially for specific topics such as Inositol. I actually use Inositol for my anxiety and oc issues.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php

There are sticky threads in the top of most of the forums. They contain useful information and websites etc.. You may find the Vitamin Sticky thread at the top of the TBI/PCS forum very helpful.

take care there.

Hi AFVeteran80,
While your physical injuries are serious, and you seeking knowledge of meds sensible, your Depression and Anxiety will be fuelling all the other problems. Having suffered both for over 30 years I can understand how frustrated and angry you feel.
You must have these conditions addressed as soon as you can - Counselling works for a lot of people, anti-depressants may be an option and beta-blockers are still good for Anxiety attacks.
Learning to meditate properly can also be beneficial for a long-term fix, but it takes time to master.
Above all else, search for a solution to your anger problems. Too many of us on here have lost relationships, family, friends due to them being unable to cope with our conditions or our changed moods. Don't become another relationship casualty, try to talk - even when it gets hard. Learn the signs of rising frustration and CALMLY go for a walk. Use the Forums to vent, or rage at the World - there will always be someone here to listen.
Feel well.

Dave.

Hi AFV,

I was just wondering, did you experience the anger prior to your concussion? It has been a little over a year since I was diagnosed with PCS and one of the things I've noticed is changes in my behavior.

I'm new to this site as well. Glad you decided to share what your going through.
