Default Hello! Peripheral neuropathy

Hi everyone! I'm 30 and have not been diagnosed with PN, but I'm starting to have symptoms of it (non diabetic variety). My dad is 60 and has had significant idiopathic PN for 20 years. He recently started having major problems with foot wounds and is having an amputation of his small toe this week. dr calls his PN "significant"--basically no sensation below the knee. He's on all the glorious pain medicines--very clearly affecting his mental state and alertness after so many years .

I'm here because I'm concerned for Dad and also worried that I'm young and we have not had any prior worry that this is genetic. genetic PN is rare and Dad is one of 4 kids (only one to have this disease). The fact that I'm now having more regular tingling/shooting pains in my hands and feet is alarming. I don't want to freak out anyone in my family and attention is focused on helping Dad recover from his amputation. I'm on a B12 supplement and I see lots of great tips on here for supplements to try.

I'm wondering what you would do in my shoes. I really do not want to go through a battery of tests only to confirm what I'm already worried about, but I don't want to ignore the problems and get worse. I have two kids under age five, happily married, and great job. But if my health deteriorates, I worry I won't be able to take care of my family like I want too. Thanks for your thoughts!
