I have been diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome by two chiropractors, and an orthopedic doctor/surgeon. I also have mild scoliosis in the very top of my back. I have never thought that there could be a connection between the two but recently I have been wondering if there could be. The thoracic outlet syndrome is much more promenet in my left shoulder, and my spine curves to the right. I have constant neck, shoulder, and arm/hand pain from it. I don't know if this is relevant or not, but I am a 16 year old gymnast. And was diagnosed about a year ago after going to multiple doctors/ chiropractors trying to find out what was wrong with me. I had major pain in my left shoulder and had had no fall or trauma to the shoulder that I could remember. I have had no imaging tests done other than x-Rays because an MRI is too expensive. I guess my main question is if anybody else has had a correlation between scoliosis and thoracic outlet syndrome.

Hi amber4,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups! ![]() You should maybe ask over on the Thoracic Outlet Syndrome Forum The members who post there and deal with TOS may be able to give you some ideas. all the best to you. Edited to add: You could also try a search in the TOS forum while waiting for replies. You could search for - scoliosis - for example and see if there are any relevant past posts. Use Advanced Search linked below and click on the TOS forum where it says 'Search in Forum' http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php |

If there is much of a curve, it could change the angles of the ribs and collarbone, and could be crowding the space on that side more.
So it very well could be playing a part in your case.
