Default Hi all I'm newly diagnosed

Hi everyone, Had EMG yesterday with my Neurologist. His comment when finished was that I have Neuropathy. He said to make an appointment with my GP for next week to go over things??
Same as most, started with pain in the ball of my left foot which turned to numbness, pins and needles. Over 4 months this moved to burning in both feet and now legs with ongoing throbbing, pins and needles in my hands and fingers. I have also started having random intermittent sharp pains in my calves and shins. I also have aches in my head and tenderness around the temples.
I also mentioned to the Neurologist my most worrying concern, periods of memory loss and confusion. I have had trouble with multi tasking and some times even adding up basic numbers in my head. Sometimes I have trouble finding the right word and just spitting it out.
The Neurologist didn't think these problems were linked to my Neuropathy, but I'm not so sure. As my body symptom's have increased so have my cognitive problems. I am scheduled for a PET scan to check for early Alzheimer's
I have had 2 melanomas removed (early stage) and have a 10yr history of working with MDF (Formaldehyde) in our workshop at school.
I'm concerned of making mistakes with my students and also duty of care.
Can this all be linked together.
Dearly appreciate any help and advice.

G'day Phil,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

I'm sorry for the complex issues that bring you here but I'm sure you'll find support and information.

You could repost over on the
Peripheral Neuropathy Forum
to start with.

There's also a handy forum search feature. Link below. You can just type in specific keywords and search all forums here or just one if you wish.

Actually I just ran a search for Formaldehyde in the Peripheral Neuropathy forum and there are quite a number of posts. Worth a look I would think.

Hi Phil

Welcome to NeuroTalk . I hope that you find the community as knowledgeable and supportive as I have.

It might help if you checked out the Neuropathy forum (http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum20.html) - many good people contribute to it.

As far as your possible early Alzheimer's is concerned, this is something (day job stuff) that I know a bit about.

Please feel free to get in touch if you would like me to comment on this.

All the best.

Phil, are you taking any statins perhaps Lipitor?

I had major issues as above when I was on Lipitor..

[QUOTE=kiwi33;1156725]Hi Phil

Welcome to NeuroTalk . I hope that you find the community as knowledgeable and supportive as I have.

Hi Kiwi33 thank you for your help. Yes I'm concerned with the possible thought of Alzeimer's or any other serious reason for my deteriorating thought process. I would appreciate any help or advice you can offer.
Phil
