Default Introducing ourselves : Tourettes

Hi everyone.
My cousin was diagnosed with Tourettes and I'm helping him with the site as he is 12 years old.

We are looking for a support group for Tourettes in Pretoria South Africa (if there are any!) or a place where he can meet other Tourettes teenagers to chat about what's happening. Either online or in person.

Thanks.

Welcome to NeuroTalk KAASA

We have a TS forum here
http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/forum25.html

These sites/articles in SA may be of help to you in finding local support groups:

http://www.childmag.co.za/content/un...e#.VbVIuflv42E
If you scroll down to FINDING HELP (above the comments section) you will see some contact info

My son was dx with TS when he was 10, and although we tried conventional treatments, we eventually switched to a more natural protocol after he had very severe reactions to the prescribed medications. The improvement in his tics and co-morbid conditions was close to miraculous! He is in his mid 20s now and doing very well, a talented musician and living a full life. I wrote about the success we had with natural treatments for him on our TS forum here some years ago.

Much of what we did was thanks to a friend sending me info on Latitudes/ACN http://latitudes.org/
The site owner there, Sheila Rogers, has written an excellent book on this different way of treating tics and TS
http://latitudes.org/store/natural-t...syndrome-book/

There is also a youth friendly site, Life's A Twitch, that he may enjoy....... www.lifesatwitch.com
It is mainly archives there now, but still a lot of info and a Youth Haven section for him to look at.

I hope that gives you some info in your quest to help your cousin
