Default Hello! Hi! Bonjour! Hallo! Ciao! Olá! ....

to everyone (& if I've not included 'your' greeting, apologies, I've never been good @ languages)

I only found NeuroTalk recently & am looking forward to wandering around its highways & byways. I guess like others before me I hope to discover a few 'tricks' & ideas to make life a bit easier – ever the optimist!

Firstly, I'd like to say a big Thank You to DocJohn for getting things started & to the many others (e.g. in the Community Support Team & members) who must be working hard to ensure that NeuroTalk functions well.

A little about me. I'm in England (approx. 3,500 miles north-east of New York) & - shock, horror – not a villain, despite Hollywood casting all 'Brits' as villains.

As far as I know, I've never met or seen anyone with my particular N.P. problems: numbness (no pain) in feet & lower legs. Hopefully, will get to know & learn from others in a similar situation or with background knowledge

Have tried Gabapentin – didn't work for me - & currently building-up dosage of Pregabalin (no help so far). The only thing that helps is raising my legs to a horizontal level & having a couple of glasses of nice wine (purely for medicinal purposes!!)

Wishing everyone success in their personal battles against N.P. & other illnesses

DavidA

P.S. Apologies if I've posted to the wrong place

G'day David,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups.

Here is the link to the
Peripheral Neuropathy Forum

You could post your introduction there as well as here.

There is also the
PN Tips, Resources, Supplements & Other Treatments Sub-Forum

You can also try the Forum Search there if you're looking for particular posts regarding the medications you've mentioned.

http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php

I'm sure you'll find a lot of support and information here.

Just wondering if you have diabetes? You've mentioned having numbness with no pain. I was just curious.

take care there.

G'day Lara & Thank You for the various links to follow-up

You are 'on the ball' in that I was found to be Type2 diabetic last year tho' I'm slim, low body fat & very fit. This was found by the neurologist trying to discover the cause of the numbness; it was the only test, of many, that gave a 'positive' response, however, neurologist ruled-out Diabetes as the cause. Diagnosis of diabetes did cause me to question so-called expert advice as I was told my diet was really good. After some research I decided to try a 'low carb' diet - will find-out soon how well this is/isn't working

As I know so little about P.N. is diabetes a cause of numbness without pain?

DavidA

P.S. I was almost an Aussie! My parents thought very seriously about moving there or NZ when I was very young

Hi David,
As far as I know numbness can be a symptom of diabetic neuropathy but as far as I know it can be involved in neuropathy from other causes as well.
I don't have either so I'm not the best person to ask. Check out the PN Forum. The members there will help you I'm sure.

take care.

G'Day Lara

good advice, thank you; will try that later (my brain's a bit scrambled @ present having got-up early to see Perseid meteor shower - unsure if they are visible South of the Equator. Actually they weren't visible North of Equator as seconds after going outside clouds covered much of the sky )

as I'm up early I can get on with all the things I was planning to do yesterday but didn't get round to. Oh, eyes feeling heavy.........

Well that was worthwhile even if it was just for a few seconds.
I've been watching photos come in from different places in the Northern Hemisphere. Very spectacular.
