Confused A Tragic Story

I was injured on March 3, 2007. Our family was involved in a tragic vehicle accident on the way to Vegas to visit my father when we passed a gold Lexus. Apparently, he didn't like being passed; because he soon was ahead of us, slamming on his brakes. We had to slam on our brakes to avoid rear-ending him. We continued driving when he slammed on his brakes again. This time waving his finger in his rearview mirror as if to say uh uh uh... My husband was getting upset. We were all becoming frightened. My son was behind my husband; my niece in the middle; and Amber sat behind me. She had removed her seat belt to get something from the floor. Although, I don't know what. We were all screaming for my husband to pull over or get into another lane but to quit feeding into this idiot's game by catching up to him. He continued; and the guy in the Lexus slammed on his brakes again. This time to keep from hitting him, my husband drove over on to the dirt shoulder. In California, this is an absolute no no. I was screaming at my husband, hysterically at this point. The Lexus stayed with us as we slowed. He stayed along side of us. I was afraid he was going to side swipe us. Then, suddenly he slammed on his brakes again. We tried to go back on to the road when we hit a bump in the dirt; and the truck flew. We rolled 7 times I am told. Amber was ejected out the rear window during the first roll. When we came to a stop, I looked all over for her; but she was gone. I had to climb out of the back of the cab to get out. That's when I saw her laying on the ground, bleeding from the mouth. I tried to get to her but fell. Some bystanders caught me and took me back to the truck bed where I stayed until the paramedics took me away. My 16 y/o daughter died at the scene.

I've been in pain eversince. In the beginning I bled from the right ear, was dizzy, nauseous, and hurt all over. Now, I am left with a pain near the top of my head on the leftside in the back. It feels like somebody is scratching my head too hard then it gets worse. I can't find the words I want to say half of the time; although I can write quite well. I still get nauseous and dizzy from time to time. And my left leg doesn't always cooperate with my right.

Going into the third month of this crap; I'm more than a bit frustrated. The poor concentration, momentary lapses of judgement, and irritability have almost lost me my job. I take pain killers every 6 hours; and sometimes they don't work.

So, here I am.

Tragic indeed! I'm so sorry to read about this road rage and the loss of your daughter. Have you gone into any kind of counseling? It's a wonder you weren't all killed. What pain meds are you taking?

(((AngelEyesMom))) I'm so very sorry for your loss and complications from the accident. I wonder, did they find the other person at fault?

Have you seen a neurologist? I strongly urge you to if you haven't.

My cousin was in a terrible car accident a year ago March and was in the hospital for 2 months. Her many injuries included head trauma, and she has the same difficulties as you. One of the strange reactions she has is talking extremely fast and constantly. Her neurologist said that wasn't uncommon for head trauma and should go away eventually. She has terrible pain from the trauma to her spine. Collapsed lungs, 6 broken ribs, ruptured liver. It was all so awful, and I can only imagine how frightening this was for you.

I hope you find the support here that you're looking for. It's a great bunch of people here.

Again, my deepest sympathies for your losses.

((((Hugs)))) What a horrible tragedy. I am deeply sorry for your loss. Was the other driver found? Is the rest of your family ok? Are you actively getting treatment for your injuries?

Please use all the resources out there for someone who is going through what you are going through. After you start healing physically, you will have emotional issues to deal with. Please seek someone to help you and your family through those.
