Unhappy new here and scared and wishing

Without this illness I could have been:
a very smart person with a good career and moved up the ladder like my colleagues;
could have had a lasting loving relationship with a husband;
could have had non-disabled intellectually and emotionally children;
could have had grandchildren;
could have had a good relationship with my parents;
could have had a lot of friends; and finally,
could have saved money for retirement and take a nice retirement.

What do I have:
emotionally and intellectually disabled children;
children who think and know I am crazy and want nothing to do with a MI mother;
children who blame me for everything;
no relationships whatsoever;
bottom of the career ladder;
money spent on numerous therapies, doctors, PT, OT etc.
no car;
no paid for home;
no grandchildren;
no retirement; and
work til I die.

Tired, exhausted and ready to give up. I know on my grave it will say she never gave up and always had hope that things would get better. Unfortunately it has and now will not. I understand that now I will live with painful, numb feet and hands with diabetic neuropathy. I have read most of the posts and all I see is no hope for full relief. Give us drugs so we no longer care or "learn to live with it. ugh

Everyone says stay in the present so here is my present, I am a ticking time bomb, the docs don’t know what is causing my medical problems, have lost most of the feeling in my legs except my feet that continue to burn like I am standing on a bed of coals, fainting and passing out again no docs know what is wrong, breaking bones, staying on disability, not being able to work or drive, having no friends, no support, extranged from my sons who do not want or care to help me. Yes this is very sad, this is my life and I just will keep crying cuz there is no good present for me. Please do not tell me to look on the positive side, there is no positive side anymore.

Littlepaw said it, you are not alone, especially here.
Lots of us with lost hopes and dreams and crappy, selfish families.

I lost my career, ability to work or have kids but have found a way in life despite the lousy aspects. When I got ill, I found out who my true friends are and they are with me to this day, decades down this road. When I thought my life wasn't worth much, I have found that giving to others whose lives were worse than mine, always helped me. There is ALWAYS someone worse off.

After losing my job to illness, after a few months of resting and feeling a tad better, I walked across the street to the local hospital and said, I can't do much but I can give you a few hours a week. They put me in the Intensive care unit as a greeter/receptionist ....kind of like a Walmart greeter. After seeing what these patients and their families were dealing with every day, I grew to be thankful for what I had.

If you can't get out much or are not ambulatory, there are phone volunteer jobs.

I also worked for Hospice as a volunteer. At the very least, I could sit by the bedside of a dying person and hold their hand or listen to their stories and in some cases, help them mend fences with a loved one they wanted to make peace with before they died. It ended up being the most rewarding job I ever had and I made special, lifelong friends with the families and co-workers.

Im not preaching, honestly....you might not to be ready for volunteering but it sure pulled me out of my funk. Just food for thought.

I am glad you made your way here. There are many nice, supportive folks who have walked the same path you are on.

Please keep coming back.

Heart Welcome!

Welcome Dancing Lady!
So glad you have signed in and have introduced yourself.

I hope you find the information and some of the support you are looking for here.

Littlepaw and Diandra have written heartfelt notes. I haven't much to add.
I feel your pain within your writing. I certainly understand why you might feel depressed and hopeless. Life is tough enough. Any added depression can distort our thinking and can make life situations feel even worse. I am helped greatly by making sure I am treated for any co-occurring depression.

Again, welcome!
I hope to see you around the forums.
