Hello,
I was recommended this forum, so thought I'd join and say hello. I'm from the UK, not far from London. I'm 27 years old and was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in 2009 and Gastroparesis in 2014. Earlier this year, I started experiencing breathlessness. After a lot of toing and froing, it was found that my heart is beating abnormally due to electrical signals. I have just been told that I have autonomic neuropathy. I wasn't expecting this diagnosis, as I was initially told that the Gastoparesis was idiopathic. I have googled but feel a bit confused about what this means for me. I'm under the care of gastroenterology and rheumatology. Gastro has been treating my symptoms but ultimately, thinks the symptoms will ease if/when we get the autoimmune disease under control. This has proved tricky as I am already on a fair whack of immunosuppressant drugs and I keep getting infections, so there is a risk. I'd love to hear from other people who live with autonomic neuropathy. I use a few Gastroparesis forums and there are plenty of people who have this condition but they have POTS too, which I definitely do not have. Thanks for reading. |

Hi Starburst
Welcome to NT. You have a complex diagnosis to deal with at such a young age. Hopefully someone with autonomic neuropathy will come along here soon to help you with your questions. I don't have RA but have another autoimmune condition plus osteoarthritis (OA) and peripheral neuropathy (PN). I'm familiar with RA as 3 other family members have it (cousin had it from the age of 28). If you want specific information you can use the 'search' function to look up previous posts (need 10 characters in the search box). Feel free to browse the forums and join in the discussions. All the best - bluesfan |

Hello Starburst,
Welcome to the NeuroTalk Support Groups. You could post your questions about autonomic neuropathy on the Peripheral Neuropathy Forum As bluesfan has mentioned, try the Forum Search Feature as well. It'll bring up similar posts. e.g. POTS http://neurotalk.psychcentral.com/search.php There is also an Arthritis Forum For both Osteo and Rheumatoid arthritis. Wishing you all the best. I'm sure you'll find information and support here. take care. |
